"A historical San Francisco night-life landmark, Ten15 blasted onto the scene in the mid-80s and has been hosting the hottest DJs ever since. Considered the birthplace of clubbing, Ten15 is a true pioneer in the support of electronic music. We define ourselves through an uncompromising commitment to quality programming, stellar entertainment, and cutting edge corporate and private events. In the early 80s, 1015 Folsom Street was the world-famous Sutro Bathhouse. A maze of massive hot tubs lay buried beneath the main dance floor and a retractable glass ceiling called to sunbathers. In 1985, the building was converted to Major Ponds, a live music venue. In the summer of 1986, Ira Sandler took over the management of this ailing venue and created Das Klub, which at the time was San Francisco's largest, over-18, after hour’s hot spot. The venue later became a widely successful over-21 club, Martini (later joined by Kit Kat) on Fridays and Colossus, a popular gay scene, on Saturdays."
