"In Short – In stride with its sister bar Gold Rush in Hell's Kitchen, 1849 boasts a rugged, Wild West theme. The owners chose a touristy strip of Greenwich Village for their second ode to the American frontier, but kept the spit-shine charm. Inside, Bleecker Street shufflers and NYU students gorge on hearty chow like baby back ribs and barbecue chicken. Upstairs find pool and video games; downstairs, sports on a dozen plasma-screen TVs."
