"Housed in a 17th century building, overlooking Balchug Street, the cavernous GQ Bar is one of Moscow’s smartest nightspots. Two balconies overlook an intimate dining area, and a large bar stands by the entrance. Smooth, solid and glossy, the bar is emblematic of the venue as whole: slightly imposing and fashionably expensive. Owned by renowned Russian restaurateur Arkady Novikov, a menu of well-executed, if unavoidably, Russian dishes is served alongside a wide range of wines and, of course, vodkas. Despite the name, the venue appeals to both sexes and is popular with a more mature, business-minded crowd. Live music is supplied most nights by a pianist with a DJ taking over later in the evening."
