When most people hear the words 'Rock and Roll', do not probably immediately think of amputees. And I don't know why this is the case - but it just is. But who can forget some of the more noteworthy names that have overcome limb-loss and when on to rock unabated? We certainly, haven't; below is a our definitive list of rock and roll's best one-armed drummers, in no particular order:

Rick Allen, Def Leppard

Rick Allen lost his arm in a automobile accidentwhen his speeding Corvette veered off a Sheffield road, launching him over a stone wall into a field, where he was thrown from the car. When his girlfriend who was driving with him at the time found Allen, his arm had been severed off at the shoulder. A passerby (who happened to be a nurse) helped the two, and rushed Allen to the hospital. Although he initially thought he'd never drum again, he soon found he was able to drum quite well with one arm, and with the help of Simmons Drums, he developed an electronic drum set made specifically to accommodate his disability. The band went on to sell more records than any rock band in 1980s, in the US - more than Bon Jovi, and Guns N'Roses
