Amazon Prime Releases to Watch Out for in 2021

Finished watching everything interesting on Netflix and tired of the movies and documentaries being showcased on Mubi and Hulu? Then worry not, because Amazon Prime has got you covered with its host of releases slated for 2021— just in time as well, as the world enters into another phase of lockdowns. Take a look at the list below for the best movies and series to watch out for on Amazon Prime in 2021.

1. Modern Love Season 2

Who can forget the charming and heart-warming first season of Modern Love inspired by the long-running New York Times column of the same name? The show explores love in its different manifestations— platonic, romantic, friendly, paternal, lost, and recovered— across a spectrum of colorful characters whose stories feel human and relatable. If the first season was anything to go by, then the show is bound to make your insides all fuzzy and gooey with its second season, all set to release late in 2021.

2. The Boys Season 3

The season two finale of the hit, fan-favorite series The Boys was a total game-changer for viewers, which changed the whole dynamic of the show, leaving all the more intrigue for the upcoming Season 3. This season is expected to reveal who Congresswoman Victoria Neuman is working for. Whether Queen Maeve’s plan will work. We will see Cindy, the escaped Sage Grove patient along with the new characters of the Supe, Soldier Boy, Katia Winter as perhaps the Russian gangster Little Nina, among others. Further, it is also expected to be the springboard for the confirmed The Boys spinoff, making the season unmissable for fans.

3. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4

Adapted from Margaret Atwood’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale is returning soon with Season 4. The last season of the Emmy-winning series ended intensely with the shot of June Osborne staying back and fighting against the oppressive, imprisoning structures of Gilead instead of escaping. Season 4 thus has a lot of nail-biting questions to address: Will Gilead finally fall? What will happen to June? Will she run with her eldest daughter or create an underground resistance? No matter what happens, Season 4 is bound to be bigger and better than before.

4. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4

Season 3 saw Shy Baldwin humiliated when his secret was seemingly revealed, and our beloved Mrs. Maisel— played by the super talented Rachel Brosnahan— left at the airport clutching the coattails/ tail end of her dream gig. With a release slated for December, Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is expected to pick right back where it left off and progress to see Midge find her way back, all the while managing her complicated dynamics with Lenny Bruce, Joel, and Benjamin.

That said, this list is comprehensive in no way and other shows that you should make sure not to miss are Season 7 of Bosch,  Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, The Lord of the Rings prequel series, and the untitled David Weil series whose details are to be released soon!
