Netflix Movies and Shows to Watch Out for in 2021

With more lockdowns looming on the horizon all over the world, 2021 seems to be heading in quite the same direction as that of the previous year. But a ray of hope was the fact that many beloved shows and movies went into restricted production when the caseloads went down.

As we head into another round of who knows how many days of staying cooped up in our homes with very little to do, here is a list of Netflix releases to watch out for in 2021.

1. Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead

Move over, Justice League, for there’s a new bad boy in town. Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell and others in an ensemble cast, is all set to be released on May 21, 2021. The second zombie film directed by Snyder, Army of the Dead traces a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas where, in a casino, a band of mercenaries plan and execute the most elaborate and daunting heist of their lives.

2. tick, tick… BOOM

Lin Manuel Miranda is known for his stellar production of Hamilton which blew people away with its exceptional writing, acting and music. It thus goes without saying that Miranda’s directorial debut for the screen with the musical drama film tick, tick… BOOM about an aspiring theatre composer is definitely something to watch out for! Keep an eye out for its release in 2021.

3. Peaky Blinders, Season 6

Everyone who is a fan of Peaky Blinders knows that it is not a good idea to look at Tommy Shelby the wrong way. But who can resist watching the Shelbys and the madness that they unleash with their activities as they return for what is the sixth (and possibly the final) season of Steven Knight’s enthralling crime-gangster drama Peaky Blinders. All set to release towards the end of 2021, Season 6 has quite a lot to deliver, so brace yourselves—by order of the Peaky Blinders!

4. The Witcher, Season 2

Missing your favorite brooding monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia? Then get ready to toss a coin, because The Witcher is returning for a second season with eight episodes this year! This time, the Henry Cavill starrer is expected to adapt the first book in the series, Blood of Elves– making it quite the treat to look forward to for the original book and video game loyalists.

5. Ozark, Season 4

Ozark fans, rejoice! The mind bending, fan favorite series is coming back for a fourth season after ending the thrilling Season 3 with quite a bang. Often compared to its soul twin, Breaking Bad, the storyline has quite a bit of punch left to it, and the characters have been really well-developed till now. The latest season is expected to explore the aftermath of Wendy and Marty’s actions through a two-part 14-episode finale. Jason Bateman’s promise of “a super-sized season” and “super-sized problems for the Byrds” is expected to come to Netflix late in the year.
