One great thing about ordering drinks while on an airplane is that when you are ready for your next Bloody Mary, all you have to do is hit that service button and a flight attendant comes to take care of you. She then retrieves a drink and brings it to you, and you drink it and fall asleep. But in most cases, flying can be pretty horrible with all the recycled air, small bathrooms and crying babies.
What I don’t like about many bars and clubs is that I will undoubtedly have one of two problems: 1) the waitress comes by too many times asking us if we need anything right when I’m in the middle of a kick-ass story about bear hunting or when a friend is talking about performing a tracheotomy with a pen, or 2) it takes forever to get service. I don’t like being in bars without a drink - it’s just not what I got all dressed up for. I work about 50 hours a week and deserve to be treated like a king when I’m out spending my hard earned money, right? Cue solution to all problems:
Lucky for me, Microsoft Surface App may at some point be introduced. For bars that would implement this technology as part of their table tops, I will be able to drink with the perfect rate of refills and suggestive re-order intervals. No longer will my well-strategized intoxication plan suffer inconvenient interruptions. This technology senses when my drink is low and then sends a visual message to the bar staff to tell them that I might need another. I wouldn’t have to flag anyone down, nor have to try and finagle my way up to the bar by throwing elbows to yell my order in over other patrons. This sounds like a pretty good idea to me, and I’m interested to see if it will be implemented in the future. My suggestion is that they integrate a feature to be used specifically in bars that will sense when your face is resting on the bar and order a taxi for you as well.
