Sling TV Review- Is It Cheaper Than Cable?

A cable TV connection allows you to enjoy your favorite TV channels on your smart TV. Unless you know how to cast your TV to other handheld devices (which is quite a complicated process), you are better off using an over-the-top internet television service like Sling TV. In this post, I am going to review Sling TV and let you know if it is cheaper than cable TV or not. Also, you will learn how to get a Sling TV connection for your home.

About the Creator of Sling TV

Sling TV is one of the upcoming American over-the-top internet television service offering television-on-demand. It is not a traditional cable provider. This Centennial, Colorado-based company was founded in the year 2018 and now lead by CEO, Robert Lynch. However, unlike Netflix and Hulu, they do not serve customers in countries other than the United States and Puerto Rico.

How Does Sling TV Work?

Sling TV is an over-the-top internet television service like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. You can live to stream your favorite TV channels like HBO, CNN, NBC Fox Sports, etc. You don’t need a set-top box or any other device to make it work. Just having an internet connection with decent speed is enough.

So, how does Sling TV work? How do I get started? Once you purchase a plan, you will need to go to your smartTV and download a Sling TV app from the store. Login with the credential provided at the time of purchase. There are plenty of plans for you to choose from. Sling TV also has special affordable plans for those who watch nothing but sports. Further, they also offer plans for children. Remember that you can always add whatever channel you want by paying a few bucks extras, in addition to the base package.

What I Like About Sling TV

The user interface is not as complicated as Netflix or Hulu. The app also recommends TV shows or sports events that are currently trending. Plus, there is also a section known as a guide where I can view the forthcoming shows.

What I Don’t Like About Sling TV

Sling TV does not offer some popular channels like CBS, Telemundo, NBC Universo, and PBS. This is the only downside of this internet television service. I guess this is the reason it is a few bucks cheaper than it’s competitors.

My Recommendation

I recommends Sling TV who wishes to save money by getting a common TV service for their entire family. You can your family members can log in simultaneously with the same credentials and enjoy the service without any issues.

Is It Cheaper Than Cable?

Sling TV has two base packages: Sling Blue and Sling Orange. Both come with a separate set of TV channels. Each package costs $45 per month. Even if you purchase an add-on package, the cost won’t exceed $55 per month. Compared to traditional Cable TV which costs anywhere from $80-$100 per month, Sling TV is far cheaper. It is also a few bucks cheaper than it’s competitors Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube TV.
